Free Software

This page lists the free software I've developed. It's all tested by my 18 month old daughter to make sure that anyone can use it.

  • Bash Guard

One set of my daughter's grandparents live in Cornwall and so we spend a lot of time on Skype. Plus I'm playing her lots of The Muppet Show (on my laptop) to try and make sure she grows up funky.
But being 18 months old she can and does get excited and mash the keyboard and mouse. Anyone who has had a baby mash at their PC knows that things get disturbed. Skype calls ended, video stopped, system settings you've never heard of inexplicably set to their most awkward position.
So I've written BashGuard. Once installed it starts with your computer and sits in your system tray doing pretty much nothing. But if you double click on the icon or hit the magic key combination of ALT + SHIFT + P if jumps into action. Now it doesn't matter what anyone does to your keyboard or mouse your PC is protected.
BashGuard soaks up every key press and mouse click and doesn't let them through to the computer until you hit ALT + SHIFT + P again.
Now fire up Skype, hit ALT + SHIFT + P and let your child do their worst.
At the moment this is Windows only and is a beta release - the icon is awful and I used a cup of tea to break the right mouse button on this machine recently so I can't test the right-click functionality so please do contact me with bugs if you use it and find them.
I based the "hook" around this article if you're interested to learn more.
